Hardy Lake Sweep Set For Saturday, April 25, 2020
THE HARDY LAKE SWEEP SET FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 2020, HAS BEEN CANCELED! As many know, it is being asked to practice social distancing to try and help avoid potential spreading of the COVID-19 virus. Here at Scott County Soil and Water Conservation District we are always keeping in mind the safety and well-being of our community. We want everyone to remain safe and to take the precautions to protect yourself and others. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and we will post more information when it becomes available. Thank you.
The Jefferson and Scott County Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) and the Hardy Lake Indiana Department Natural Resources Parks and Reservoirs will be hosting their 19th Annual Hardy Lake Sweep on Saturday, April 25, 2020 from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm.
Over 100 volunteers from 4-H Groups, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, church groups, businesses and individuals are needed to help pick up several tons of waste along the county roads surrounding Hardy Lake and the watershed area around the lake. This event is a wonderful opportunity to share in community spirit, develop leadership skills, learn about volunteering, and understand the value and importance of a clean environment.
Free camping is available one night that weekend only, for all groups that come to help. Each volunteer will also receive free breakfast cooked by the Friends of Hardy Lake, a H.L.S. t-shirt and a safety/cleaning packet.
Besides volunteers, the Hardy Lake Sweep committee is seeking sponsors for this event. This is a very popular program and grows in number each year. Sponsors’ names will be featured in news articles, newsletters and programs. If you or your company would like to sponsor this worthwhile event, please contact the Scott County SWCD.
