Hardy Lake Sweep

Hardy Lake Sweep Set For April 27, 2019

The Jefferson and Scott County Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) and the Hardy Lake Indiana Department Natural Resources Parks and Reservoirs will be hosting their 18th Annual Hardy Lake Sweep on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 7:30 am until 11:00 am. Over 100 volunteers from 4-H Groups, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and individuals are needed to help pick up several tons of waste along the county roads surrounding Hardy Lake and the watershed area around the lake. This event is a wonderful opportunity to share in community spirit, develop leadership skills, learn about volunteering, and understand the value and importance of a clean environment. Free camping is available one night that weekend only, for all groups that come to help. Each volunteer will also receive free breakfast cooked by the Friends of Hardy Lake. A free t-shirt is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Besides volunteers, the Hardy Lake Sweep committee is seeking sponsors for this event. This is a very popular program and grows in number each year. Sponsors’ names will be featured in news articles, newsletters and programs. If you or your company would like to sponsor this worthwhile event, please contact the Scott County SWCD. “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” ---- Anne Frank
