Dan Smith
Dan is a lifelong resident of Scott County. He graduated from Scottsburg High School. Dan is retired from Cummins as well as American Family Insurance. He has been involved with Farm Bureau for many years. Dan is also active with the Agribusiness board and the FFA Advisory Board. Dan regularly implements best management conservation practices. He has been strictly no-tilling since 1992. He also has grassed waterways and buffer strips installed on his farm. Dan realizes the importance of the protection of our valued resources and hopes to continue to learn and teach others about the importance of conservation through the SWCD Board.
Jonathan Abbott
Jonathan Abbott is a graduate of Scottsburg High School. He was a Scott County 4-H member and a 4-year member of the Scottsburg FFA chapter. Since 2017, he has owned and operated a local excavating business that specializes in agricultural water management. Jonathan is also involved in his community. He volunteers a considerable amount of his time to the Scott County Fair Association. He has been a very active board member since 2017. Prior to joining the board, he was an active member of the Association. He also volunteers his time helping Scottsburg FFA chapter. Jonathan joined the Soil and Water board because he believes everyone has an obligation to be a good steward of the land we live on.
John Donohue
John has been a resident of Scott County his whole life. Growing up he helped on the family farm of 100 acres where they raised tobacco, row crops of soybean and corn, cattle, and hay. He was a 10 year 4H member and a member of the FFA. . In 2010, he married his wife Jennifer Collins, and they welcomed their son, Jackson, in 2011 and daughter, Jayden, in 2014. In 2018, they purchased their 120-acre farm where they raise row crops and hay. As their children grow older, they have become active in the Scott County 4H showing cattle and pigs. John is an active member of the FFA Alumni, Soil and Water Board and the Drainage Board. John strives to continue to keep the farm ground of Scott County as tillable ground and putting back into the ground he owns or leases. He joined the board in 2024.
Clint James
Clint is a lifelong resident of Scott County. Clint is a family man, currently living in Lexington township with his wife Carrie of 16 years. They have three children Taren 14, Corbin 12, and Asher 10.He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving one tour in Iraq in 2004. Mr. James worked at Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation for 15 years. Where he worked his way up to master electrician then on to contractor coordinator. In March of 2020 Mr. James purchased Scott’s Mowing and landscaping llc and has been a small business owner/ operator since He has been a trustee at Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church, a member of Scott County 4-H council, and president of the council for one year. He is currently a voting member of the Scott County fair board. Mr. James is also a new member of the Masonic Lodge 622 located in Lexington Indiana. Clinton and his wife love to spend time outdoors on their farm raising goats, chickens, and mums. He looks forward to working with the members of the soil and water board to learn more about benefits and programs for the county to be able to pass the information on to the residents of the county. He joined the board in 2024.
Craig Broady
Craig has lived in Finley township his whole life and has helped on the family farm most of his life. He was a 10 year 4-H member and was in Junior leaders also. He’s a graduate of Scottsburg High and went on to get his associates degree in electronics engineering and has done industrial electrical and maintenance for 26 years! He works at Valeo lighting in Seymour on the weekend shift so he can assist more with the day-to-day farming. He joined the board in 2025.
