John Hardin, Chairman

John has served on the SWCD Board since 1999 and was elected Chairman in January 2001. He raises tobacco, hay, and grain as well as registered Limousine Cattle and sells freezer beef. On top of farming John also holds a full time job at American Plastic Molding. He has two boys, Kirk and Kevin. In 1999 John was awarded with a Tobacco production Award from Purdue University and Philip Morris and was nominated the Mayors Good Neighbor Award.  His current term ends in January of 2011.


Joe Robbins, Vice-Chairman

Joe was elected supervisor January 23, 2003.  Joe Robbins is a Scott County resident who graduated from Scottsburg High School and has also attended Purdue.  His farming consists of raising grain, hay and livestock.  Joe is manager at Crop Production Services here in Scottsburg. His term will end in January of 2009.  He is married to the former Chris Rode.


Matt Oberlies, Treasurer

Matt was appointed supervisor in 2006 and will serve until his term ends in 2009.  He is employed as an Ag Loan Officer for Farm Credit Services.  Matt's farming operation consists of corn, soybeans, forages and custom baling.  He is newly married to the former Erin McGuire.


  Bill Comer, Supervisor

Bill was appointed supervisor February 8, 2007 and his term will end in 2010.  He has a B.S. in AgEcon from Purdue University and a Masters in Economics from Arizona University as well as a Masters in Education from Indiana University.  He is retired from teaching at Scott County School District 1.  He farms corn and soybeans as well as raises beef cattle.  He is married to the former Mary Beth Murphy.


Jeff Coomes, Supervisor

Jeff Coomes was elected supervisor February 8, 2007 and his term will expire in 2010.  He is a graduate of Scottsburg High School and continued his education at Purdue University and IUS.  He is married to the former Shasta Lesnet.  He works in the family business, Coomes Backhoe, where they are involved in installing conservation practices such as waterways, roch chutes and tile.
