MONTHLY BOARD MEEETING MINUTES

Thursday July 17, 2008, 7 p.m.   Location:  Scott County Fairgrounds

 

Present:  Bill Comer, Jeff Coomes, John Hardin, Joe Robbins

Guests:  Laura Fribley, Pat Larr, Rob Miller

 

Meeting Called to Order by John Hardin.

 

Minutes from June 21 meeting were approved and signed.  Joe made a motion to approve and Jeff seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Reports

                Laura Fribley – ISDA

Laura went first so that she could attend another SWCD board meeting as well.  She handed out info on ECAP and summarized the program.  The ISSCB urges SWCDs to investigate local needs.  This assessment does not need to apply only to the June flood, but from damage due to overall excess rainfall.  Supervisors agreed to contact local folks and officials and report results next week to finalize actions.

                Laura also introduced the new 2009 CWI Sediment and Nutrient Reduction grant dollars available with applications due September 5.

                Finally, she reminded the board about the Leadership Institute coming up August 1 in Clarksville.

 

Business Plan Priority Actions

Conservation Farmer-of-the-Year Award – Lynda submitted package on Denny Wilson and received confirmation of receipt.  It looked really good with a score of 94.4 out of 100.

 

Monthly Business

Central Muscatatuck Watershed Project – Robert Miller reported on the project.  He has been working on applications for implementation grant for cost share, etc.  Looking for in-kind match in support of  Hardy Lake Sweep from SWCD.  Bill Comer moved to support the grant.  Joe seconded.  Motion carried.

 

IASWCD Funds Disbursement Resolution – This resolution written by Daviess County proposes that SWCDs be allowed to designate certain routine payments be allowed between board meetings.  Jeff made a motion to support this resolution.  Joe seconded.  Motion carried. 

 

‘Entering Scott County …’ signs – John reported that he had talked to Larry Blevins.  Larry said to take the sign to the County Highway Department and they would erect the sign for us.

 

Financial District Reports

Approval Checks – Accounts Payable Voucher Register - All checks 1058 to 1064 were signed and approved.  The Accounts Payable register was also approved and signed.  Joe made a motion to approve these expenditures and Bill seconded, motion carried.

There were no public comments.

                Bill made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Joe seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
